Pattern: Tatewaku - Vertical, tate 立, undulating lines which bulge and narrow to create an hourglass effect and a seamless repeatable pattern. Tatewaku pattern is often executed diagonally in shibori process as a length of stitching thread between selvedges of a narrow kimono cloth (approximately 38cm to 40cm/14” to 15”) works best for sewing repeatedly.
