Japanese Fulling Wool - Grey
Wool gauze designed by Hiroshi Murase. Made of a looser weave, this wool fulls exceptionally well. Fulling wool gauze can be used with a resist paste recipe to dramatic effect thanks to the wool's radical shrinking ability. Shibori patterning or stencil application of fulling resist paste can achieve three-dimensional texture, or a play of transparency against opacity in a lace-like treatment.
Fulling may cause width shrinkage by as much as 50% (less in length).
Untreated wool; 180cm (71") wide. Priced per meter.
Note: Some variation in length may occur due to measuring practices. General measuring practice at the mill is to use “warp length”. This means fabric warp is taut when measured. Length under tension is no longer than length under no tension (no tension is not possible at the mill). We measure under some tension and err on the generous side.
Please be advised to take this into account when you measure what you receive.
